Pet First Aid Tops List of
New Year’s Resolutions for Pet Parents
January 14, 2021, PAULS VALLEY, OKLAHOMA This past year, many people have found great comfort and companionship by spending time with the family dog or cat. For all those critters do, isn’t it time to do something to help them live longer, healthier lives with us?
According to a University of Scranton study, 25% of people who make new year’s resolutions, stop within 30 days of starting to achieve their goals. Since many resolutions focus on health, falling short could affect others…including our pets. “Working out and eating healthy is up to each of us to decide but taking initiative in our furry kids health and safety is vital! Life happens, so I am here to help pet parents step in and save the day,” explains Jonathan Cox of Buckaroos.
Pet First Aid Classes provide skills to help a choking pet, upset tummy, poisoning, seizures, insect stings and hot & cold injuries BEFORE veterinary care is available. Cox trained under The Pet Safety Crusader™ (aka Denise Fleck), who has shared animal life-saving skills with more than 25,000 pet lovers. “Pet First Aid doesn’t replace medical care, but it’s what we do when the worst happens, to prevent further injury and provide comfort until we reach the vet. Since 90% of pets will have an emergency, it’s a must to know!” Fleck says.
Top New Year’s Resolutions for Pet Parents include:
- PLAN FOR THE UNEXPECTED Learn Pet First-Aid & CPR before you wish you had, and have at least one Pet First-Aid Kit handy so that you’ll have the tools at your fingertips. Don’t delay, visit buckaroosrr.com to sign up for a class near you, or if you prefer to learn from home, go to http://www.petsafetycrusader.com/shop/
- DO HOME EXAMS Knowing what is normal can help you quickly determine when something is not. Observe your pet’s habits. Notice his stance, and every week, do a Snout-to-Tail Check of your pet. Discovering a problem early and getting prompt medical attention could be a lifesaver.
- SCHEDULE THAT ANNUAL VETERINARY VISIT Dogs and cats do not live as long as we do, so each calendar year equals 7-years of physiological changes in us. Catching a problem early could mean more years with your best friend.
- BRUSH UP ON OBEDIENCE A dog or cat who knows “stay” and “leave it,” might avoid dangers. An obedient and well-socialized pet is a welcomed family member. A tired pet is a good pet, so provide exercise, refresh training and give your pets the attention they deserve.
- READ LABELS AND FEED THE BEST FOOD YOUR BUDGET WILL ALLOW. Know which human foods are dangerous to pets and keep your pet at a healthy weight.
